A Big Thank You to eidolon!!!

My opinion, I think it depends on how you store them.
How is the best way to store them? I wrap mine around the flag length wise and put them in the case.

Hey Mr. Bill

I see you found them here. I sent you a PM on the other forum too. You store them in the cardboard tube that they shipped in. The tube is about 1 1/8 diameter and 30" long.

I also made me a tube from PVC to protect them a little better.

Thanks
Jerry

Would wetting them and drying flat restore stiffness
Like after being rained on?
I've never wet mine on purpose but I have shot in the rain and I just put them back in the tube. I store mine in a tube, this helps keep them straight and the curve in the tails. I don't think you want them flat, I'm thinking the curve contributes to making them more stiff. The older mine get, the more the curve and stiffness are taking a set.

I'm thinking storing/keeping them in tubes is the trick.

Here's a good example of sail tails stored in tubes and sail tails thrown in a box.

Mine are a little too curled. I think they still work ok but I'd like to flatten 'em out a little. Any ideas? At one point last summer I tried to flatten them out by putting them under a heavy matt that's on the floor in front of my work bench. That helped a little but it was short-lived

What happens if you put them in the tube against the curve?

Store them damp in a larger diameter tube and they will curl less. Too damp and they will flaten.

Thanks Jerry. I store them in the tube that Ralph shipped them in as instructed. I'll see if I can find one with a little larger diameter

My flags were delivered yesterday ( great workmanship) and I'll try them out in the yard today. I was thinking they would be a lot stiffer than they are in that If I held one out horizontal it wouldn't droop. Am I wrong? Hopefully I get to try them out this Thursday in our informal club match.

Yes, you had wrong expectations. None of them are that way or designed to be that stiff.

Thanks Hozzie. I have been looking at the photos of the flags in use in the wind and they look like they keep the shape of being totally straight. I`m sure mine will do the same.
