We had a great day at the MPR range in Concord for our April Unlimited IR5050 match & Long-Range Silhouette series. The weather was just right – cool & sunny, but the wind!! It was light to moderate but as indecisive as a kid in a candy store, making every shot an adventure & generating many exclamations on the line … especially towards the right end of the range!
Thirteen shooters lined up for the challenge, bringing an assortment of custom benchrest rifles, tricked-out repeaters, factory models, and even one brave soul wielding an airgun with pinpoint accuracy.
Pierre clinched the top spot among the custom benchrest crew, edging out Marcus by a mere two X’s with a score of 745 44X. Meanwhile, Dr Phil strutted his stuff among the factory and repeater crowd, securing first place with 743 31X, followed by Dave H, Jeff, and Conrad.
But the real underdog story came from Pete, who dominated the Silhouette match with his FX Pantera airgun, bagging an impressive 53 out of 60 animals. Notably, he even outshot the regular silhouette rimfire shooters with his kick A $ $ FX Pantera slinging slugs! Way to Go, Pete! Rematch tomorrow @ 9 AM.
Big thanks to everyone who showed up to sling lead and lend a hand. Special shoutout to Dave, Marcus, Jeff, and the rest of the crew who helped keep things running smoothly, from scoring to setup to teardown. And let's not forget those heavenly donuts and coffee – you guys are the real MVPs!
Next up on the Diablo agenda: a long-range silhouette showdown tomorrow morning 9 AM sharp, followed by a club factory and repeater match in two weeks on Saturday 5/11 @ 8 AM.
Until then, stay safe, and keep those targets trembling!
